Each block represents twelve strong women who came before us. Seventeenth and early Eighteenth Century women bankers, social workers, community workers, lawyer and business owners. The center block above the house block represents Katharine Lee Bates, Wellesley College English literature professor, writer of the poem, "America the Beautiful". |

My quilt is based on the Whirl pattern in Emily Ciers’ book “Scrap Republic: 8 Quilt Projects for Those Who LOVE Color.” It was just perfect for all these colorful scraps! My version is a two-sided quilt by piecing and appliquéing the quarter circles from the front of the quilt into circles for the back. It’s bright and modern and was seriously fun to make! |
